The hydro dynamically designed strut is cast in 316 Stainless Steel uses a conventional
water lubricated bearing. The strut and stainless rudder are attached to the fiberglass
drive housing. The water tight drive housing contains the steering systems, exhaust pipes
and mufflers. The cover to the housing is finished in a non-skid for use as a swim
platform.

HIGHER SPEED AND INCREASED ECONOMY
This is done by reducing the drag of the water flowing through or over the underwater
gear, which retards or slows the boat from slipping though the water. With Simplicity
Marine Drives the water flows through only 50% to 60% of the propeller and rudder at
planning speeds. This is known as SURFACE-PIERCING or VENTILATING THE BLADE TO THE SURFACE.
Surface-piercing of the propeller reduces CAVITATION, (the power stealing air bubbles that
form on the pressure side of the propeller blade). With Surface-Piercing design the
propellers utilized are larger and are modified with more rack and cup to the blades.
Larger propellers create more thrust, have less slippage and use less horsepower to obtain
a given speed. This means increased speed and better economy across the whole rpm. range
of the engine.
