EXCELLENT MANEUVERABILITY
Simplicity Marine Drives steer with a larger than normal balanced rudder behind the propeller. This gives excellent maneuvering in tight locations and eliminates wandering at low speeds. The rudders tiller arm in the drive housing is compatible with push-pull mechanical or hydraulic cylinders of most major brands. Hydraulic steering is recommend on all boats over 25 feet or with speeds over 30 knots.
Our optional HORSESHOE NOZZLE RUDDER is available where maximum thrust and maneuverability are required. The design allows twin rudders (horseshoe nozzle) to rotate around the propeller, giving it full protection and directional thrust in forward or reverse. This rudder has proven useful on Commercial Harbor Tugs, Fire Fighting and towing vessels and with large recreational single engine boats such as houseboats. The horseshoe nozzle is only available on the sandshoe models.

EASY INSTALLATION
Simplicity Marine Drives can replace existing inboards to reduce draft and increase speed and economy. They can also replace existing sterndrives. The Simplicity Marine Drive will cover the hole left by the old sterndrive of most brands, eliminating costly modifications. The drive is connected to the engine transmission by a shaft coupler. The drives are available in 12 models for vessels ranging from about 20' to maxi yachts, for single, twin or triple applications and can accommodate up 1500 HP. diesels. The drives are supplied to match the transom angle of the vessel, (owner provides at time of order) come complete with template drawings, all mounting hardware, and step by step instructions. The drive allows you to put the engine tight to the transom with the standard shaft length or several feet forward by ordering additional shaft length. Even the novice can complete the installation without special tools in minimum time. Engine exhaust pipes are standard in the drives. Mufflers are available from 3” to 10” depending on engine exhaust size. Check the specification sheet for standard and optional equipment.

SHALLOW WATER USE WITH PROPELLER, SHAFT AND RUDDER PROTECTION
SMD units draw less water than conventional straight inboards or sterndrives. They also are the only production drives available to the public that offer propeller, shaft and rudder protection (sand shoe skeg models) from logs, sand bars and rocks that cause costly repairs and haul-out time.
